Studies have shown that one of the best ways to get rid of a person’s fears is hypnosis. Hypnosis for those who are new to the concept is considered a theory based on many different studies. These studies have found hypnosis is successful for many patients, but not all. The patient has to want to be hypnotised in order for it to work. Furthermore in hypnosis the individual has to go into a trance like state, where relaxation allows suggestions about the issue they have. These suggestions do not go against a moral code or beliefs, and are quite safe.
There are a few methods for getting rid of a fear of flying using hypnosis. The first option is using a hypnotist. This involves going to a few sessions that last for an hour or ninety minutes. During this time the hypnotist will ask questions about a person’s life, where they may have gotten the phobia, and why they want the help. In the next session the hypnotist will begin by inducing a trance like state. During this state the person is asked to see a relaxing place where they feel safe before the introduction of their phobias is mentioned. The phobia may be mentioned in the second session or it may be left to the third session. During the session about the phobia the hypnotist will explain why flying, in this case, is safe. It may touch on the particular fears the individual has regarding flying. Then the individual being hypnotised may be asked to think about the destination and how they arrived there safely. The second method for solving your fear of flying can relate to a CD. In the CD you are typically going to enter a trance like state of relaxation in both mind and body. Then the hypnotist on the CD will begin to go over reasons you can handle your fear of flying and offer relaxation or breathing techniques to get you through a flight. A CD typically works over a period of time such as listening to it for a month or two weeks. The CD is a type of self hypnosis in that you are not going to sessions, and you can actually place yourself in a hypnotic state without the CD after listening to it for a few weeks. This helps you get on the plane and if need be relax in a trance like state for the flight.
